Raves and Faves: OCTOBER

Here is my Top 7 (yes, 7) list of October loves. In other words, another chance to List thing-ys. *claps*

1.  Fall. It’s my favorite.  Love me the sound of some crunchy leaves.

2.  Pumpkin bread season.  My god, how I have missed you.

3.  Girl friends.  I’m lucky to have a few of them transplanted here in CO (the hottie red-head in the middle is from my engineering days).

4.  I dug out my green slipper boots, which were a Christmas gift from the Hubs a while back.  I love those things.  You know, a cozy morning is such a lovely thing.

5.  Hike to Sugar Loaf mountain

with my sugar loaf:

( and also our first taste of CO snow).

6.  Our second snow (and almost a foot of it)!!  The impending snowball fight at cross country practice made focusing on a timer picture quite the difficult task.  Can’t say I didn’t try.

It was pretty while it lasted (which was less than a week).

7.  And lastly, Halloween was a total hoot this year.

October falled (?) to the wayside once again, but we sure raked up some good memories.  Wonder if November, and that jellied cranberry sauce that slips out from the can completely intact, will be sweet like it usually is?

  1. Ah…I love me crunchy leaves too! But not snow, you go ahead and keep all that snow in the mountains!!!

and I got just a “little” excited about the canned jellied cranberry sauce. It’s a tradition with my family & you know you’ve done a good job serving it when you can still read the serial numbers of the batch on the jellied cranberry! :-) We’re gourmet like that.

    • The snow has all melted now (it was 70 degrees yesterday) BUT, word on the street is that more is coming! Glad I’m not the only one that digs the canned-cran-goop over the real deal! We’re classy, no? :)

  2. Pumpkin bread! I have yet to make or track some down yet. I haven’t the faintest idea why. And I am so glad all of your snow has melted; that can just ruin your day when it comes too early, but you guys seemed to still have fun with it.

  3. I love all your raves and faves. I love jellied cranberry mold. I wonder if they use cranberries in it. Check the can. I had some good pumpkin bread from Festival but it didn’t even come close to thecandace’s recipe. I am cold and not looking forward to snow. But it is the time of year. Best enjoy life as it presents itself. Hot tubs on a deck. Fun. lv mamap

    • I knew I could rally up more fans of the fake cranberry sauce! :) You need to take a warm bath and find your slippers, MamaP. Wish I could drop off a loaf of pbread for you tonight.
