Now that it’s finally official – I’m growing a human – I’m sure you can’t wait to be inundated with all things baby. Should we let the nonsense and self-indulgence begin?
Main scoop: I feel good and not overly uncomfortable. I’ve been telling Baby to take her time in there so we can both enjoy this phase for a few more weeks.
I was headed to a doctor’s appointment (at my new hospital) and then a track meet, hence another workout clothes pic…
The Science: Baby Center recap – 36 weeks. You guys, this is fascinating:
She’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
Body morphing: Weight gain is 19.5lbs (up 3 from last week). I wake up in the mornings with a tight belly but I can’t tell if it’s a Braxton Hicks contraction or just Baby Girl pushing on everything, including my bladder. Her only job now is to sit back and fatten up so I can smooch her up when she comes.
Sexy stuff! So, somebody lost their mucus plug! I noticed it when I got out of the shower and OF COURSE I immediately showed Hubs (he’s traumatized). Save yourself the Google search, it’s exactly what you think it is. It’s an early sign of labor but don’t panic (I’m talking more to me than you), it can happen a few weeks to just before delivery so it’s not something to get overly worked up about. It does indicate that labor is imminent but we were hoping for the eventual arrival of a little baby all along anyway, right?
Food drama: I’ve been eating smaller more frequent meals and trying to stay hydrated. I’ve also added a psyllium capsule to my morning prenatal vitamin and fish oil to help my food “move through me easier”, if-you-know-what-I-mean.
Exercising? I’m counting potty breaks as my cardio! Classy huh?
To Dos: We put in a big order on Amazon to round out baby supplies we were missing and the carseat/stroller combo got delivered! PHEW. Track is still taking up so much of my time in the evenings with dizzying paperwork, but I’m going to keep trying to check off baby/life to dos in between.
And randomly: So, the reason we waited so long to get the carseat is because Hubs was dragging his feet. He kept assuring me that he needed to do a little more research before we could up and buy one. Here’s why…
